Most common problems with dental handpieces and how to fix them

Low torque - This can be caused by a number of possibilities. Let's do the daily checks. Make sure your air pressure is within the manufacturer's specifications or your speed is set to the proper setting for your electric handpiece. Secondly, make sure the handpiece is well lubricated. This is done by placing the nozzle and spraying the lube in the smaller of the two larger diameter holes of an air driven handpiece or placing the correct nozzle adapter into the electric handpiece and lubing until it drips from the head. This ensures all components have received ample lubrication. Once this step is complete, retest your handpiece. If it's within acceptable ranges, congratulations you've just increased the life expectancy of the internal components. If the handpiece is still failing, it may be time for a rebuild because of a failed bearing or other component is causing excessive friction. At Apollonia Dental Repair, we'll perform a full evaluation, provide a quote and even pick up your hanpieces (within our service area), perform the repairs within a few working days and return your repaired handpiece fully functional and verified backed with our industry leading 6 month warranty.
